THE COST OF E-BILLING FOR THE LAW FIRM
For most law firms today, e-Billing largely remains a manual process riddled
with inefficiency and complexity. Law firms need to make significant
investments in time, training, development and tools to accommodate
the e-Billing initiatives that, almost invariably, come at the request of a
client. And the switch from paper to electronic invoicing is not a simple one.
Read the results of a recent study that uncovers and measures the costs of
processing invoices electronically, and learn what other firms like yours are
doing about it.

EFFICIENT E-BILLING FOR THE LAW FIRM: FANTASY OR REALITY?
Electronic billing is a deceivingly simple concept: extract the invoice data from
the law firm’s billing system and insert it into the corporate client’s system.
Generating and sending an electronic invoice should be as easy as sending
e-mail — and certainly much faster and simpler than sending a paper invoice.
Law firms should be able just to pull up an invoice in their billing system and,
instead of hitting the button for “Print Invoice,” simply hit the one for “Send
Invoice”.

ILTA E-BILLING SURVEY
In 2004 ILTA conducted a survey on e-billing, and this year’s report is focused
on the costs incurred by law firms in four major e-billing areas: initial client
setup, ongoing invoice processing, template maintenance and e-billing vendor
fees. A total of 68 ILTA firms participated in this year’s survey. We think
you’ll find much to interest and enlighten you in the survey results and the
very thorough analysis by Daniel Garcia of The eBillingHub, as well as in the
four articles that cover a variety of e-billing-related subjects, by authors
on the e-billing front line.

E-BILLING: THE LAW FIRM PERSPECTIVE
This whitepaper examines some popular e-Billing questions. Can we just stop
eBilling? Are all law firms having trouble with electronic billing, or just my
firm? Why is it electronic billing so difficult and expensive? Why haven’t
standards fixed the problems? What’s a law firm to do? How close can the
real world get to the perfect world, today?
